INSIDE JOB

I finished college last 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Nursing, employed currently at a call center, and also a "part time" student taking up Accountancy. People are wondering why I ended up being a call center agent though I am a licenced nurse, and taking up another degree. Since I am also the one providing for my family, I need  to open up options for growth and for wealth as well.

In my Finance class last Tuesday, our professor had us watch a documentary film etitled the Inside Job. This documentary shows the reason why we are on a global recession. You can see in this film how GREED can dominate a person's values and neglect the things that they stand for. These lobbyists, bankers, financial consultants, "wall street people" took control of the government and thus controlled on how the laws about these money matters would go about. They have deregularized the financial market, not setting any limits to every transaction for them to gain more money from it. Some had positions in the government that influenced law makers to pass these laws that would potentially make them more money. They are only thinking about themselves and did not think of the outcome that their actions could have brought in. Some CEO's of banks became head of the federal reserve, financial adviser of the president and the likes. One case that I remembered that this CEO had accepted a position in the government, obviously he needed to resign from his position. He sold his stocks for $400 million, here's the catch. it is exempted from tax. This CEO saved about $50 million which should have went into the country's monetary reserve.

Recession started to take place, initiated by the bancuptcy of the Lehman Brothers (or is it group?) and the AIG. These two are the ones who benefited the most from deregularization. Then the problem spread like a disease, causing lay offs around the globe, businesses declaring bancruptcy. And now they're washing their hands clean from these? How thick could these people get. Just to get loads of money from the financial market, they didn't even try to think the outcome of their actions. Tsk tsk tsk..

I would recommend everyone to watch this film. This is an eye opener for everyone. The funny thing here is that they a lot of things like how corrupt the Philippine government is. One question, WHAT DO YOU CALL THIS??

hardwork pays big!

Filipinos are being commended for being hardworking, and compassionate people. Our services are even in demand in other countries. I for one wanted to land a job overseas, but unfortunately, I have a lot of things to consider; knowing that i have a lot to sacrifice just to be in that position. Anyway reading an article from dailymail.co.uk, a Filipino born emmigrant was rewarded for her hardwork and loyal service.

Huguette Clarke, an heiress to copper magnate Senator Andrew Clarke died at the age of 104. She had a private nurse which served her for 20 years, who had inherited a $33 million dollar fortune. Fickle minded people would think that this nurse could have done something "unordinary" for her to recieve this big inheritance, but I think differently, I believed that she deserved it. Ms Clarke lived a life away from the public, and a life away from her close relatives. Her only confidant was her nurse, Hadassah Peri. You can read the whole story in the link I have posted.

We get a lot of critisicms from other countries, a lot of them degrading, but these criticisms didn't stop her from doing her job well. This only proved that we shouldn't let bad criticms take over us. We must believe in ourselves and do what we are best in doing, and by adding compassion, understanding, and dedication, i can really say that HARDWORK REALLY PAYS OFF BIG TIME! :)
